Mary Del Popolo’s specializations include drawing, painting and mixed media, with expertise in color pedagogy. Prior to her position in the School of Art, Del Popolo was a faculty member at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and Howard University’s Fine Arts department, where she was director of the young artist academy. She taught art in both elementary and secondary schools in Fairfax County Public Schools, as well as at the Fillmore Magnet Arts Center, a visual and performing arts program in Washington, D.C., and the Corcoran Museum Education Program. She holds an MFA in painting from Virginia Commonwealth and maintains a K-12 teaching certificate in the state of Virginia. She also studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, as well as the Parsons American School for Artists in Paris.
