Steven Cushner received his BFA degree in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and his MFA in Painting from the University of Maryland. He has taught at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, the American University, Vermont College, and George Mason University, and has been a visiting artist at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Towson State University, Arizona State University, the Chautauqua Institute, Anderson Ranch, and the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts. He has received grants from The National Endowment for the Arts and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. His work is in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Library of Congress, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
