Open to all majors, the Animation Minor offers a curriculum focused on production, creative storytelling, social issue documentary, and artistic experimentation.

My name is Trisha Dahal, and I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a major in Art and Visual Technology, specializing in Studio Arts and Photography.

The new College of Visual and Performing Arts special topics course AVT 496 focuses on furniture design and is offered through the university’s School of Art. As a part of the course, the students will tour the National Gallery of Art and put what they’ve learned to practice by identifying and recommending ways to create a more welcoming environment for people to experience the art.

Brianna Camp is the 2025 recipient of the Young Alumni Commissioning Project Award
, and Marina Vianello is the recipient of the 2025 Young Alumni Creative Development Award.

Laura Vel is an administrative professional with a strong passion for both social justice and the arts. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from George Mason University (GMU) and combines her academic background with hands-on experience in social services and organizational support.

Four students in George Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts will have original animations displayed on screens in six Metro stations as part of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Art in Transit Program, beginning the first week of December 2024. These animations will be on rotation in the stations for a full year.

Hunter Muirheid received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design from George Mason University, Fairfax in 2024. He posts for the School of Art socials and also works on prints, web updates, and the newsletter.

A 55-gallon rainwater collection barrel is now the newest addition to the School of Art's Sculpture Studio Yard. The collected rainwater will irrigate a variety of non-edible plants emerging in sculptural form from the nearby drainpipe and other artistic additions to the barrel.

As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Professor Chawky Frenn will conduct international research while teaching at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, in the fall.

George Mason University has joined the Alliance of Art Research Universities (a2ru) as an institutional member. This action uniquely positions George Mason among other R1 institutions to support an emerging research culture in the arts.
